Why BUY CALF NOW option?
I have had many people
ask,"Why in the world do you have the BUY CALF NOW option". I
thought I would take a moment to explain why I started this. There
are many reasons why I wanted to do the sale this way. When I buy
things on ebay, I always find myself doing the buy it now option rather
than waiting on the bidding. Usually the bid auction items get
higher than I would have went, and I wasted a lot of time watching and
worrying about bidding. Also, I know that guy on the other end of
that computer might be bidding on his own item and running me up, so the
buy it now option keeps people honest. As far as the cattle sale
goes, I know what I have invested in the cattle I raised or bought.
I know I would like to make a small profit on them. I don't do
this for a living, but I don't like to lose money so I add a little on
top and that is the price you see. Some people are correct when
they say a calf could bring more if bid off. That's not the point.
If a customer can buy a good calf and either show it and win or trade it
for more and MAKE MONEY, they will be back again the next year.
Also, I make my living in the animal health business. These sales
are horrible for calf health. It is like taking your entire calf
crop to the stock yards for a couple weeks. There are a lot of
people coming to your farm and exposing the calves to everyone's
problems. The buy it now option allows me to move out the calves
after they are sold to the farm and closed pasture. That and
plastic boots should help to prevent sickness in what is possibly your
next calf. Last but not least, I love Bertha Hamilton's food.
I hope all my calves sell at the buy it now price and I can drive around
looking at all the other calves in the area, and stop a couple times a
day at the Hamilton ranch to eat. Buy those calves now...... Jake
